Before/after school

School starts at 9:00 and parents can drop off their children from 8:45. It is possible to organise an early drop-off from 8:15, but the school does not provide breakfast.

School ends every day either at 15:00 or at 12:00, depending on the programme your child is currently following (nursery or primary), except Wednesday when school finishes at 12:00 for everybody. The children can be picked up between 15:00 and 15:15.

For children who need to stay longer, an after-school child-minding service/garderie is available until 17:00 at the cost of €8 per hour. The school provides a healthy snack around 15:15 after which the children play in the garden. In case of bad weather, the children play indoors in the playroom.

There is no garderie available on Wednesdays.

Garderie is not included in the annual tuition fees. At the end of every month the school calculates the number of hours your child attended garderie (pro rata) and the director will ask you for payment.

It is very important that parents and the teachers at Montessori House Brussels keep each other informed about the child’s well-being and any changes in the daily routine. Short messages can be exchanged in the morning or after school and should be communicated in writing.

To do so, you will find a book every morning in which you can note down, for example, if your child is staying before/after school, or if she will be picked up by somebody else (already introduced to the staff or through provision of ID copy). For a more detailed exchange of information, a meeting after school can be arranged.

Lunch

Children staying full days must bring their own packed lunch (a microwave oven is available), or parents can order a three-course lunch catering service supplied by a separate company at the cost of €4 per lunch on a monthly basis. The total monthly costs are calculated at the beginning of every month and are due for payment within a period of two weeks.

The school also asks every family to provide morning snacks for the whole class either twice or 3 times every academic year.
